My friend had someone hack his facebook, and i clicked on an event he sent me while hacked?

One of my friends had a message sent to him that glitched his account and sent an invite to all the people on his friend's list. When I logged on, I saw that he had invited me to a group so I tried to join. When I did I got an error saying the group no longer exists.Could this have stolen my accounts password/anything else? Or was it just some spammer trying to gain revenue? Thanks for your help
