Why doesn't my pet reply to commands?

Okay, so I play the online mmorpg "maplestory." i bought a pet from the cs (monkey) but it doesn't reply to any commands. Like, when i say "iloveyou" it doesn't do anything. When I feed it, it's silent. Is it glitched or something?
