Where can I find a free version of Windows minesweeper?

If you add windows components via the Add/Remove Programs menu (Programs and Features in Vista I think) of your Control Panel, you can install Minesweeper or all games without downloading anything, but you might need your Windows disc. Just check "Games" on the list and hit OK.
