Having ipod problems?help?

Okay so i have the very first ipod touch edition. Old right, but i don't feel like getting a new one. I just got a new laptop and i installed itunes on it and all that stuff, but i dont know how to get my ipod to connect to my new itunes. My computer recognizes it as a camera and says its only 10 GB but its actually 16GB and ive used half of it. I also already got rid of my old laptop that had the original stuff for this ipod on it. How do i get my ipod to connect with itunes?
