Is my pokemon game messed up? (POKEMON FANS ONLY)?

I have bred the crap out of my pokemon, i have battled hundreds and hundreds of wild pokemon, i have 178 hours of gamplay on my game, i have got a chain of 56 with my poke radar and, i still have not seen 1 shiny pokemon. On every other pokemon game i have owned i have at least ran into 1 shiny before the elite four. So i was just wondering if there has been any cases where the game glitched up and won't let you get shinies
